Your APS film is handled with extreme care and scanned on the latest high-end Noritsu Scanners, and then manually corrected by a skilled technician. Your film will be transferred at our Indianapolis lab with a 3-4 week turnaround time.
By the end of the process, you have all your locked APS images digitized and available for digital download or USB drive.
We don't just scan APS film; we make the memories in them shine. After scanning, almost every image requires some level of correction, which can vary between simple red eye removal to complicated color shift. We also adjust for any dust or scratches that may have made their way onto the film, thus giving the highest quality. For every single image we scan, we will manually perform:
In short, for our standard APS film scanning service, a skilled technician will spend approximately four minutes per image correcting the problems listed above. In our experience of scanning over 200 Million images, this manual process produces the most amazing quality - at just pennies per image. Some images may actually be physically damaged and may require our restoration service - but that is relatively rare.
Developing APS film is a little tricky given the different image formats in a single roll of film as well as the special equipment required to process it. If your APS film has been previously processed (there is an indicator on the canister that will give you this information), then the negatives - - are stored safely inside the canister. However, extracting these images in order to digitize them is not an easy task.
At ScanCafe, we have the equipment to scan your APS film to digital safely, without jeopardizing the precious memories stored in them. Without a lot of experience in scanning APS film, a service company may ruin your source negatives by pulling them out and cutting them in order to scan them. But we know the right way to handle APS film.
At ScanCafe, we understand the value of your precious memories. That is why your APS film is handled with extreme care and scanned on latest high-end Noritsu Scanners that are especially designed for APS films, to give you a scanned image equivalent to a 10 mega pixel image. We do NOT cut your film into individual images to scan them. We can complete the film scan in one single process.
After scanning, each image is then processed by a trained technician who manually removes minor image defects - for free!- to improve the quality of the image.. As a matter of policy, we always refrain from using any automated process to scan your film. This is one of many things that sets us apart from other similar services.
Most people have thousands of pictures in different formats. Over time, it’s common for slides, negatives, prints, and videos to shift in color, fade, and get damaged. Professional scanning restores and preserves these precious memories so you can enjoy them for years to come. Scanning photos also provides other benefits, including:
If most of your photo collection is comprised of negatives, scanning them is preferred to prints because:
Please only use secure and sturdy boxes to ship your precious images. DON’T use flimsy department store boxes (e.g. Macy's or Nordstrom), Kleenex boxes, thin paper/cardboard boxes, moving boxes, or shoeboxes. In addition, you should never use bubble mailers because the contents will likely be damaged. Always be careful to fully tape up the box on the top and bottom. The UPS store or your local post office has appropriate shipping materials. Here are UPS guidelines for proper packaging:
Currently, there is no handling surcharge for albums. You can send the photos in albums as it is. Our technicians will remove the photos in a sequence, scan and replace back in the same sequence. If they were unable to remove photos for any reason, we will contact you prior scanning; to discuss your recommendations.
