What Sets Our APS Film Scanning Services Apart

Individual APS Film Adjustments

We don't just scan APS film; we make the memories in them shine. After scanning, almost every image requires some level of correction, which can vary between simple red eye removal to complicated color shift. We also adjust for any dust or scratches that may have made their way onto the film, thus giving the highest quality. For every single image we scan, we will manually perform:

  • Re-orientation
  • Cropping
  • Scratch and dust removal
  • Color correction
  • Red-eye removal

In short, for our standard APS film scanning service, a skilled technician will spend approximately four minutes per image correcting the problems listed above. In our experience of scanning over 175 Million images, this manual process produces the most amazing quality - at just pennies per image. Some images may actually be physically damaged and may require our restoration service - but that is relatively rare.

Experience with APS

Developing APS film is a little tricky given the different image formats in a single roll of film as well as the special equipment required to process it. If your APS film has been previously processed (there is an indicator on the canister that will give you this information), then the negatives - - are stored safely inside the canister. However, extracting these images in order to digitize them is not an easy task.

At ScanCafe, we have the equipment to scan your APS film to digital safely, without jeopardizing the precious memories stored in them. ithout a lot of experience in scanning APS film, a service company may ruin your source negatives by pulling them out and cutting them in order to scan them. But we know the right way to handle APS film.

Our Quality

At ScanCafe, we understand the value of your precious memories. That is why your APS film is handled with extreme care and scanned on latest high-end Noritsu Scanners that are especially designed for APS films, to give you a scanned image equivalent to a 10 mega pixel image. We do NOT cut your film into individual images to scan them. We can complete the film scan in one single process.

After scanning, each image is then processed by a trained technician who manually removes minor image defects - for free!- to improve the quality of the image.. As a matter of policy, we always refrain from using any automated process to scan your film. This is one of many things that sets us apart from other similar services.
