Tips for Packing Images for Photo Restoration
Packing and Shipping Instructions for Photo Restoration
Packing and shipping images for photo restoration is a simple process with ScanCafe. On this page, we have provided some great tips for packing and shipping photo restoration images to us. Packing and shipping to ScanCafe is truly quick and easy.
You must create an Order in the sytem.
If you are only sending in pictures for photo restoration, you still need to create a scan order. If you are sending in 1 photo, create an order for 1 photo to be scanned. When you order, there is a special instructions area where you should state that you are sending in 1 or more photos for restoration.
Protect Your Original Photos.
Especially for old or deterioriated photos, you should make sure there is a sturdy piece of material, such as card board behind the picture so that it does not bend. You should also seal the picture in a plastic bag, such as a Ziploc™ bag. If you need to buy shipping materials you can go to a local UPS store, Kinko's, or office supply store.
If you are creating a large order with slide scanning, photo scanning, or negative scanning, you should see review their shipping instructions, especially as it relates to protecting your images.
Provide Clear Instructions.
The more detailed you are when describing what needs to be fixed, the better. For example, you could tell us to remove the marker stain or point out an area that is torn. If you are trying to turn an old black and white photo into a color photo, provide details like hair color, eye color, shirt color, etc.
Print 3 Copies of the Scancafe UPS shipping label
When you place an order with ScanCafe, our system automatically generates a UPS shipping label for you. We need this shipping label to track your package throughout our scanning process
You can print the shipping label directly from your computer. Print 3 copies.

- Securely tape one UPS label to the outside of the box
- Keep one UPS label copy for your records

Once we have received your packages at our office, you will then be able to track your package through the entire scanning process on ScanCafe's site.
